YAMAHA DIRT BIKES
A
bit of history about Yamaha Motorcycles and Yamaha Dirt Bikes
Yamaha dirt
bikes are part of the most successful off road motorcycles in
history. This shouldn’t surprise us as Yamaha Motorcycles have
been successful both on the racetrack as well as off-road and
their historical timeline is extremely interesting to note.
Started by
Torakusu Yamaha (1851-1916) in 1888, Yamaha was initially a company
that sold musical instruments. As time passed, a few more partners
joined the firm and the company managed to pass through the troubled
times of World War II.
After the
war, the then chief of the company, decided to use the company
for launching a new product - the motorcycle. Yamaha’s first bike
was the YA1
with a 125cc, single cylinder, two-stroke engine. This bike
was a success and sold well in Japan.
After this,
Yamaha entered the USA in 1958 with two new models. The company
started progressing and one if its biggest successes came in 1968
with the introduction of the DT-1
Enduro. This bike was the world’s first dual purpose bike
which could run both on-road and off-road.
Again, in
1975, Yamaha dirt bikes introduced the first single-shock production
motocross bikes. This machine changed the Motocross world forever.
After this, there was no looking back for Yamaha. The rest, as
they say, is history.
Today, Yamaha
Motorcycles is one of the top-notch dirt bike manufacturers. Their
continuous struggle for better and better technological advances
has made of Yamaha dirt bikes the choice of many motocross and
super-cross champions.
In
the following years, the company plans to bring about several changes
in the technical aspects of its bikes. Some of these changes are
:
The frame height of the bikes will be reduced
by 10mm and the seat height by 20 mm. This will make the
handling of the bike easier, especially for shorter riders.
The clutch lever shape will be renewed and a new clutch
cable will be installed. This will lead to a lesser effort
to pull the clutch.
The Enduro engine will now have an electric starting,
making it even better.
The latest digital CD ignition technology will be introduced.
This will monitor the engine speed and lead to a better
response time during hard acceleration.
The
engine cooling system will also be upgraded with a higher
capacity radiator.
The introduction of a new carburetor and ignition settings.
This will help in delivering more power. Also, a new air
injection system (AIS) on California models will help
to make them pollution free and get approval from the
government.
Yamaha is also introducing new stylish seats that will
be double-toned in blue and black. These are just a few
features that Yamaha plans to introduce in the year 2005.
There are several other innovations, which the company
is constantly bringing to its bikes.
